About this role
Position Summary:
The Physician Assistant is an integral part of the oncology team, performing assessments of patients, coordinating follow-up care, ordering chemotherapy and participating in oncology rounds. This position would include performing assigned procedures such as lumbar punctures and bone marrow aspirates, supporting ambulatory case management, and managing assigned outpatient oncology clinic and infusion center patients. This position will support the ambulatory oncology team at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. The Physician Assistant facilitates the provision of optimum health care of oncology patients and their families in conjunction with other health care team members.
Position Requirements:
Education: Completion of Physician Assistant Program
License/Certification: Licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of California. BLS
Experience: Experience in pediatric patient care, required. Specialized educational preparation and/or extensive clinical experience in oncology area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Computer knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. Ability to work independently, problem solve, and prioritize demands. Utilization management or experience with health care provider systems. Knowledge of pediatric conditions is highly desired. Must possess appropriate evaluation techniques, and ability to develop and implement treatment plans.
Medical Staff Membership: Required in order to practice at this facility
