Job Summary

Tower Health Reading Hospital Interventional Radiology practice is seeking a motivated, patient-centered Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our collaborative team of Interventional Radiology (IR) physicians and clinical staff. This role offers a dynamic blend of clinical consultation, inpatient management, outpatient follow-up, and image-guided procedural care.

 

Working under the direction of IR physicians, the APP will play an integral role in the comprehensive care of patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures. The position offers an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients, collaborate with referring providers across multiple specialties, and contribute to the continued growth and success of a busy, multidisciplinary Interventional Radiology service.

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Consultation and Patient Management

  • Conduct inpatient rounds and assist with the ongoing management of patients receiving Interventional Radiology care.
  • Perform inpatient and outpatient consultations to evaluate patients, assess clinical indications, review relevant imaging and medical histories, and assist in developing treatment plans in collaboration with IR physicians.
  • Provide outpatient follow-up care, including assessment of treatment response, evaluation of post-procedural recovery, and coordination of ongoing care.
  • Communicate effectively with referring physicians, hospital teams, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding planned procedures, expected outcomes, post-procedural care, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Document clinical encounters and ensure timely, accurate completion of medical records.

Procedural Responsibilities

  • Perform image-guided and other appropriate procedures within the APP's scope of practice, with a primary focus on paracenteses, thoracenteses, and ultrasound guided liver biopsies.
  • Evaluate patients before procedures, review relevant laboratory results and imaging, and assess procedural risks and contraindications.
  • Provide appropriate post-procedural assessment, monitoring, and follow-up.
  • Adhere to established clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and applicable institutional policies.

Team Collaboration and Practice Development

  • Work closely with IR physicians to support efficient clinical operations and continuity of care.
  • Help facilitate communication between the IR service, referring providers, and patients.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of clinical workflows and patient care pathways.
